Your firstvisit

A narrow cobbled lane between old brick walls, a lantern hanging over it
A quiet brick laneway with a patch of sun on the bitumen and a black door on the right
Barber scissors, combs and a razor laid out on a polished timber bench

Laneway

Two people walking through a patch of sunlight in a shaded city laneway

No. 8 sits where a good barber should: a short walk from the train, between a coffee window and a record shop. Look for the striped pole and the number on the door.

The visit

  1. 01

    Request a time

Choose a service and a time of day that suits you. Walk ins are welcome whenever a chair is free.

  2. 02

    Arrive as you are

No need to wash or style your hair first. Wear it the way you normally do, so we can see how it sits.

  3. 03

    Talk it through

Bring a photo or a few words. Tell us what you like now and what you would change.

  4. 04

    Sit back

A hot towel, a careful cut and a finish you can repeat at home. Most visits take under an hour.

Before you come

How long will I be in the chair?

Between 20 minutes for a clipper cut and 80 minutes for the full service. Each line on the menu shows its time.

Can I bring my son?

Yes. Young gents under 12 have their own service, with a little extra patience built in for a first cut.

Do you take walk ins?

When a chair is free, yes. Requesting a time is the best way to avoid a wait on Saturdays.

What if I don’t like it?

Tell us before you leave and we will fix it then and there. A good cut is one you are happy to walk out with.
